Driving Traffic To Your Web Sites By Email Marketing

Driving traffic to websites by email marketing is a natural desire of everyone who owns a website. After all, if you own a website you want traffic.

You have made information available, probably written articles and done other things of a creative nature and posted in on your website because you wanted to share it with the Internet community, and therefore the world. But most websites are created by individuals based around hobbies or other interests they have, or around small businesses. Unlike gigantic corporations, these websites don't have a lot of money to use for promotional purposes, so driving traffic to websites by email marketing becomes a major goal of these website owners.

One of the simplest ways of driving traffic to websites by email marketing is the signature line of your email. If, in the signature line you post your URL and a brief description of what your website is about, then it will become noticed by everyone you send email to, and everyone that receives a forwarded email.

If, for instance you sent a joke you found funny to a friend and had in the signature line of the email someone promoting your website; and your friend thought a friend of his would enjoy the same joke and forwarded it, then that person would see your URL as well. That person might have no interest at all in the subject of your website, but might have a friend or relative who does and could pass it on again.

This method of driving traffic to websites is sometimes slow, but often times it works fast. You never know, but it has the advantage of being very cheap - as in free, and requires you to do nothing every again after you create the signature line.

Another method of driving traffic to websites through email marketing is with link exchanges. If you find other websites that cover the same topic your website does, or topics of a similar nature, and offer to exchange links with them they may well take you up on the offer. After all, it provides a free service to their readers and helps them and you.

One great thing about the Internet is people are willing to help each other and in return they receive help themselves. It becomes a win win win situation, since both websites and the people who visit the websites all benefit. An email campaign directed at the owners of other websites to propose a link exchange arrangement will get this campaign going.

Driving traffic to websites by email marketing can also be accomplished through writing press releases whenever you, or someone in your community of like minded individuals have done something of interest to the rest of the world. You can easily write a press release, distribute it via email marketing to online press release services as well as newspapers, magazines and other media organizations, and include the URL to your website in the press release.

Sometimes the press release will be used and sometimes it will not be used, but it takes you very little time to compose the press release and you may have good results. The email addresses to use for this campaign are all available online and through media directories.

There are many other god ways of driving traffic to websites by email marketing, just give it some thought and you'll think of several.

The Power of Local Email Marketing

As a local business owner you realize the opportunities available on the Web, but you probably do not have the time or money to invest into a full blown web presence. The obstacles and costs in building a web site keep many local businesses on the sideline.

But as a local business there is an opportunity to exploit the marketing power of the Internet at little or no cost, and it does not require a web presence.

Through email marketing you can have a direct conduit to both your customers and prospects. You may think email marketing is complicated, but that is a misconception. If you are already using email to correspond, then you are quite capable of advertising through virtual mail. In fact, if you are communicating to your customers through email, in a sense you are already marketing online. You are probably aware that a small amount of customer communication can be very profitable, and email can generate considerable income.

All you need to do is start collecting customer emails, and send them occasional promotions or sale updates. The email advertisements do not need to be coded in html, plain text messages are quite acceptable.

So how do you start down the road to Internet marketing success? You begin by simply collecting customer email addresses, with their permission. Permission email marketing is a requirement. It is referred to as opt-in marketing. At all stages of email marketing you MUST respect your customers and their privacy. Only when they have accepted your request to send information, should you forward email promotions.

How do You Collect Customer Emails?

You simply ask! As a local business owner you are constantly in touch with customers and prospects, either in person or on the phone. As a retail business you could have a clipboard by your register or pre-printed index cards that your customers can fill-out. As a service business you just ask for their email address when you make contact.

What's in it for Your Customers?

The opportunity to save money or be notified of special offers. People are always looking for a bargain, and through email you can keep them informed on the latest deals, in addition you can alert them to new services or products. This is very appealing.

And customers will perceive this as a value added service, that makes doing business with you more appealing.

How Difficult is Email Marketing?

It is quite simple. If you email friends or family, you are quite capable of marketing through email. Initially your list will be small so you can manage it through the use of your current email client like MicroSoft Outlook. You place your customer emails in a "group," compose a message, and hit the send button. Not exactly rocket science. (Note: Make sure you use the "blind box" feature.)

But from the start, you may want to consider using a professional email management service like ConstantContact.com. They have a service that is free for lists that are under 50. Their next level handles up to 500, and cost only $15 per month. A service like Constant Contact simplifies the management of your list. These types of services offer features like tracking, reporting, templates and customer support. In addition, they automate the process of people opting out of your list. An important factor with permission email marketing.

What Results Can You Expect?

Think about the potential profit from simply keeping your customers informed. This is not invasive advertising, but permission marketing, where your customers have willingly given their consent to receive your advertisements. It is like they are saying, "Please allow me to spend more money with your business."

If you already have a web site then you will also want to add an opt-in box. Give your site visitors an opportunity to join your promotional list. Many will.

From a marketing perspective it doesn't get anymore targeted then this. And your advertising costs are insignificant. A perfect example is a local wine store owner who works her list twice a week with special promotions. She makes a killing, and often sells out her promotional inventory through email alone.

As a local business owner there are opportunities and there are golden opportunities. This one is solid 24 karat. It's simple, direct and very profitable. And yet few local businesses are taking advantage of email marketing. Why not lead the pack.

Permission Email Marketing Tips for Offline Small Business Owners

Unless your small business is situated under a rock, you've probably heard something about email marketing by now, and you may have even wondered if it's time for your small business to get into it.

In its simplest terms, email marketing means communicating with consumers through email. But there's a big difference between trying to talk to consumers who never asked to be talked to in the first place, and talking to your own customers, who at some point have said, "Yes, I'd love to hear from you."

That's where permission email marketing comes in. Permission email marketing means giving valuable information to consumers who have requested to receive it. It is the ONLY legitimate way to send an email marketing campaign, and it is the only way your small business can benefit from email marketing. But how do you get your customers to say "I do"?

If you have an online business, or if your offline business has a website that receives many visitors, compiling subscribers can be as easy as adding a subscription box to your website. You would offer users something valuable, like a periodical newsletter or emails with discount coupons and, in return, your users would subscribe to your mailing list.

Sounds great. But what if your business is primarily offline, and what if you don't even have a website?

Many businesses think that's reason enough to step out of email marketing altogether. But what they're missing here is that compiling a permission email marketing list offline can be as easy, if not easier in some instances, as building a list online.

We have advised many clients on tips to collect email addresses at the point of purchase. Here are some of our favorite tactics:

Collect business cards, Offer a prize. This is one of the oldest, most proven methods of collecting customer information in-store. Your prize doesn't even have to be huge. If you own a restaurant, it can be as simple as a free dinner for two. If you own a hair dresser, it can be as easy a 50% off coupon towards their next cut. The beauty here is that customers who submit their business cards have expressed genuine interest in your products or services. So when you contact them by email with further offers, you know you're talking to people who want to buy what you're selling.

The one thing to keep in mind here is that you MUST inform users that by submitting their business cards, they are agreeing to receive email communication from you. This can be as simple as adding a sign to the business card drop-off box saying: "We will send you an email to notify you if you have won. We may also send you periodical emails with special offers and announcements. If you do not wish to receive emails from us, please write 'No Email' on your business card."

Start a V.I.P. Club Many consumers like the idea of belonging to something exclusive, and receiving offers that are extended only to a select group of people. The labor on your part is minimal. It's as easy as keeping a notebook by the cashier. As a customer comes up to complete a purchase, casually tell them about your businesses' V.I.P. Club and ask them if they would like to join. Customers will appreciate this if you position it as a rewards club, or a way to say "Thank you, we love to have you around" to your most loyal customers. Of course, you should offer V.I.P. Club membership to any of your consumers, as you may find, once you start emailing them offers, that's a great way to build your most loyal customers. Make sure the offers you send them are, in fact, exclusive, and that you email V.I.P. Club members often enough, but not too often to become annoying (once or twice a month is usually a good interval).

Again, when you're collecting customer emails for the V.I.P. Club, make sure your customers know they're signing up to receive email offers from you.

These are just some ideas to get your permission email marketing subscriber list started. The best news here is that compiling a list is actually the toughest part of managing an email marketing campaign. As long as you're using an email marketing manager program that's specifically designed for small businesses like yours, the rest of the process is a breeze.

Creating a campaign involves little more than selecting a professionally-designed template, typing text and choosing a few good images. Your campaigns will be scheduled and sent automatically, so you'll never have to worry about being involved in that part.

What you will get to do (and this is probably the most exciting and most rewarding part of email marketing), is analyze your campaign after it's been sent. You'll be able to see how many people opened your email message, how many people clicked on each link within the message and, best of all, exactly who did what. Now that's what we call accurate, detailed, and immediate consumer research (you actually get to track your consumers' actions from the exact moment they happen). And while you would previously pay a fortune just to get this research data, today your small business can send professional email marketing campaigns and track detailed consumer behavior for less than it would cost you to print store flyers.

It's the new age of marketing, and there's never been a better time for your offline small business to get into the game.

Nine and a Half Tips for Killer Email Marketing

Author and speaker Jeffrey Gitomer says that over the next 10 years a company's email list will be the most valuable asset a company can have. I agree. The more you effectively you communicate with the people on your list, the more valuable that list will become.

I'd like you to grow your list and communicate with the people on that list on a regular basis. You'll be amazed at the results. Let me give you several principles for developing that list. Nine and a half to be exact.

1. Start Building a List

A good place to start with your personal database, whether it is from your Palm device or Outlook. An easy way to do this is by sending an email to your personal list asking permission to start sending your newsletter. Don't assume everyone on your list wants to receive your newsletter. Also, when you meet a new person and get their business card, ask them if you can add them to your email newsletter list.

2. Get a good professional design to your emailYou want your list to communicate your style and attitude. Spend a little money to have a professional put together a good-looking newsletter. People will admire you and your company for doing this.

3. Have an offer in each newsletter

Tell your audience what you can do and ask for business. Often we don't get business because we don't ask for it. For me, since I design and redesign web sites, I should ask people on a regular basis to call us about having their site redesign to make it more effective.

4. Toot Your Horn, But Not Too Much

A good rule of thumb is 80/20. Spend 80 percent of your newsletter on content and 20 percent promoting your company. Your audience will remember this, especially an audience who has grown weary of being marketed to.

5. Make them LaughSome of the best response

I get is from the jokes in my newsletter. When I get an email from someone who receives my email, most of the time they say something about a joke I told in my letter. And hopefully they also want

6. Give Something of Value

This relates to the fourth point. Give your audience something that they can use and they'll appreciate this. You still have to give them a point of action or otherwise your audience will be sucking you dry. I recently got an email from a guy who has been sending information for several years but realized he wasn't getting back enough in new business from all the effort he was putting forth.

7. Don't Send Too Often

I'm a big believer in this. I get a newsletter almost weekly from a local company and it becomes overwhelming to read their letter, especially if there's stuff in the newsletter that is repeated week after week. Give me something new.

8. Make Unsubscribe Very Easy

Let's be realistic-not everyone loves your newsletter. Give your audience a chance to unsubscribe. Making them jump through numerous hoops will only alienate your audience. Have a clear unsubscribe mechanism on each of your newsletters.

9. Forward to a Friend

Ask your audience to send your newsletter to other people. It's not that hard for them and could land you several new subscribers each time you send a letter, especially if you have content that's worthwhile for them to forward.

9.5 Put copies of Newsletters on Your SiteI'm not sure people will actually reads these but it's worth it for search engines' sake to have as much content on your site as possible. And it could get you new subscribers.

Combining the Power of Google Adsense and Email Marketing

In the past year, Google Adsense has become the “It” way to make money on the Internet.

But even if you already use Google Adsense on your site, you are probably leaving money on the table. Let me explain why…

Most people create a site, slap some content and then wait for people to click on their ads.

But once people click on an ad, they are gone….probably forever!

One method that smart Internet marketers use to maximize their Google Adsense is to harness the power of their email list. By getting people to subscribe to their list, website owners can continue to make money from their readers.

By utilizing the power of their email list, website owners can dramatically increase their Adsense income.

Here is how you can do the same. In the following article, there is a step-by-step list of how you can harness the power of your list to create a steady stream of Adsense revenue.

The first step is to create a topic that is in high demand. A good topic would be something that people have an interest in, or information that can help your readers personally or financially.

Your next action would be to create content for your site. The idea is to write or use information that would provide value to the reader. All your articles should help improve their life in some manner. You can create content for your site in a large numbers of ways. This can include:

· Your own web articles
· Guides, product evaluations, and “How To's”
· Blogs and RSS Feeds· Public domain works
· Private label rights
· Hiring a freelancer to write your content

Obviously creating content for your site is an ongoing process, so once you've created at least 10 pages of quality information for your readers, you should create your web pages and optimize them for Google Adsense.

As you are designing your pages for Adsense, you should keep one thing in mind- Your primary goal is to get people to click on your Adsense ads.

So don't give your readers too many options. As a result, it is important to keep your web page simple. To do this, you should include do the following:

· Place the article on the web page
· Ad all three Adsense blocks in prominent places
· Make sure that the ad blocks look like standard text, with the no borders and blue links
· If you have to have other links on this page, include them at the bottom where there is a less chance of being clicked on

After designing your web pages, you need to create an autoresponder sequence for your email list. The primary focus for each email is to get people to click on your Google Adsense pages. So it is important to create and intriguing title. Then in the email, write a little bit about the importance of the article and tell your subscribers how they can learn more by clicking over to the site.

Once you've created your sequence of bringing readers to your Adsense pages, you should start promoting your lists. You can do this by articles, PPC, ebooks, viral marketing and SEO. The more people usually means more money, so you have to continuously work at marketing your website.

Once you have finished creating your Adsense and email system, you should go back and continue to add more content and market your site. By having a large selection of information and more readers, you'll discover that your Google Adsense income will grow exponentially.

Avoid Being Accused of Spamming - 2 Email Marketing Tips

Don’t be wrongly accused of spamming again.

Avoid having your email messages instantly deleted by your subscribers. If your emails are confused as spam, guess what, your customers won’t get a chance to read them. Your email only sometimes ends up in the folder or junk folder! Therefore, you must avoid these 4 common mistakes in your spamemail marketing campaign.

1) spam-trigger words in your email messages and subject line

2) don’t remove “unsubscribes” IMMEDIATELY

3) don’t review the latest spam laws every month

4) don’t include your contact info and physical address at the end of the emails, just like the CAN-SPAM act of 2003 says.

More of your subscribers will see your emails. You’ll look like a savvy online entrepreneur because you keep up with the latest email regulations. Go ahead and use these 2 tips every time in your bulk email marketing campaign.

Tip 1) Don’t write these 10 words in your email messages and subject line, unless you back up their use with substantial information.

1- check or money order

2- 100% satisfied

3- Special promotion

4- Money-back guarantee

5- Cards accepted

6- Money back

7- Order today

8- Order now!

9- Extra income

10- Money-back guarantee

Tip 2) As a savvy online entrepreneur, you must stay on top of spam laws.

Just like you stay on top of the news and sports, be always aware of what your emails needs to have to look “legit,” not like spam. Just add www.spamlaws.com to your monthly news websites to read.

Today, make sure you read and understand the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 by visiting www.spamlaws.com/federal/108s877.shtml. By the way, did you know it stood for Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act?

For now you can do these 4 steps so your emails conform to the CAN-SPAM act of 2003:

1. Have clear instructions on how to opt out and a functioning opt-out link.

For example, “if you no longer want to receive these messages, please click on the link below” and make sure that link does work!

2. The sender’s physical address needs to be in the email message.

Usually your address is at the end of the email after your signature. If you work on your online business from an office, the office’s complete physical address needs to be in the email.
If you work from home, your home address needs to be in the email.

3. Use an authentic non-misleading subject line.Your first paragraph needs to be related to the subject line.

4. Use a consistent “from” address

Always send your emails from a specific email address. You can save time just doing it once by setting a specific email address in your autoresponder.

By avoiding the 10 spam trigger words in your email messages you’ll let your subscribers read your emails. Commercial email will get more regulated. Your legitimate emails won't be left behind because you're now keeping up with the latest spam laws on http://www.spamlaws.com/!

Don’t think that knowing the latest about spam is time-consuming. Remember, your competitors might already be aware of them. You don’t want your subscribers and targeted traffic to go to them, right?

Building An Explosive Mailing List

Building a mailing list is essential to any business regardless of how they operate. Both online and offline businesses strive to grow there customer lists as big as possible.

You see, when you have a list you can easily sell new products all the time. It's as easy as sending out an email blast and just like that, you have potentially earned hundreds even thousands of dollars overnight.

But building a customer list takes a lot of work and persistence. It is not something that can be done overnight and sometimes takes even years. I have been operating an online business for over 3 years and just had my online email list reach 100,000 people. My offline list is in excess of over 2 million but once again that took me over 10 years to grow.

You also need a proven system or marketing plan that you can use to grow your lists. I spent 1 year setting up a system that now brings in over 10,000 new emails addresses every month. There are many other ways as well.

You can host a FFA, join a free viral program, start a newsletter or ezine, give out a free ebook/free report, or even spend money for lists. The key is having a auto-responder or group mailer that has a easy import and unsubscribe feature. You should set this up with all your marketing tools this way your efforts aren't wasted.

Let me explain the ways above which are only a few methods out of thousands that you can use:

1) Hosting An FFA

FFA stands for Free For All. It is normally a links page where other business people post there websites in hopes of getting free advertising for there products or programs. I'm sure you have tried this as well. This has been proven time and time again to be a waste of time. The only guarantee you get is that your email box will be full of sales messages from the owners of these FFA's. That is the key. You need to own an FFA in order to see results and grow your lists. Every time someone posts there link to your FFA, they automatically receive your pre-written sales messages to the email address they provide. This is what we call reverse marketing and it is responsible for millions and millions of dollars, of products and services sold on the internet today. There are a few companies out there that you can join that allows you to send your messages to around 50,000 people a month. Just do a search!

2) Viral Program

A viral program is a marketing tool that encourages people to pass along a marketing message to as many people as possible. The definition of viral marketing is promoting information or products that other people are compelled to give to other friends, colleagues and family. By definition viral marketing is a way to promote a service or product successfully. When done effectively one person will pass it on to several people who in turn will pass it on to several other people. This is what makes viral marketing so effective. For example, let me use an e-book that I wrote. If I forward that e-book to 10 people, who in turn forwarded that e-book to another 10 people. One hundred people have read that e-book. Now if it's forwarded that same way just four more times ONE MILLION PEOPLE have now read that same e-book. There are millions of viral programs out there that can really help you in growing your lists.

3) Newsletter/Ezine

Starting a newsletter or ezine is a great idea as well. The only problem is you need good quality material to send to your clients. You need free tools, articles, reports, e-books, and anything else you can find that really promotes others to join your lists for free. If people feel like you can supply them with great quality material, they will join your lists guaranteed. You can also run feature articles on some of your members and there businesses this way they feel like they are getting free advertising. With an ezine, once you grow it big enough and establish a good relationship with your clients, you can even charge to run solo ads. This is another source of revenue. Some people make a living on the internet just operating there ezines. Takes a lot of work but well worth it!

4) Free E-book or ReportThis is a fantastic way to grow your lists. By giving away something that's free that everyone has use for, you almost instantly ensure your success in growing your lists. There are hundreds of thousands of e-books and reports you can give out for free to all your website visitors in order to get them into your lists. This has been proven to be an incredible marketing tool and will consistently bring you new clients in the thousands every week. I have created an amazing report that you can use for free if you decide to. You can get more information below! Make sure you have this method integrated into all your marketing and advertising efforts.!

5) Spending money to buy lists is the easiest method but it can prove to be very costly.

And being the easiest doesn't necessarily guarantee results either. I wouldn't advise this method only because there are so many ways you can build a huge list even for free. If you become that desperate I guess you can try this method. I have gotten mixed reactions from people I have spoken to about this method. Some people it works for and others it doesn't. So you assume all the risk if you decide to go this route!

Once again, the most important aspect to your business like any other business is growing a list. This is vital to your success both short and long term. Make sure your efforts revolve around this at all times. You don't want to lose any potential future customers.
